Ahhhh, the power of prayer--Cheryl went home to the open arms of her husband--he is thrilled to have her back and so are we! Thank you all so much for your continued prayers!
Cheryl said living as a homeless person, "It was cold mom." She said she was hungry all the time, and said how good the food at the homeless shelter was. "Everyday they had the same meal, a broth soup with some vegetables and a sandwich. Mom, the soup was so good on your empty stomach it was warm and it filled you up" In the afternoon, she said, cars would just pull up to Pioneer Park and hand out sandwiches--"mom, if you got a sandwich--it was worth alot of money--ten to twenty bucks worth of drugs, you could exchange it or keep it depending on if you were hungrier for the drugs or food."
When Cheryl described being so hungry and being fed by the shelter, I wanted to cry--I thought of all the people who donate money, food, and time--true Christians who feed the hungry--I just wanted to tell them all thank you so much--your feeding my daughter--thank you.
Cheryl came home after she had a physical fight with one of her drug "buddies." The girl asked Cheryl if she could sleep in her car--Cheryl said no, and the girl started beating Cheryl. Cheryl is a very small girl, and said the girl might have killed her but for another homeless person who protected Cheryl. Cheryl's face has scratches and her back is sore from being thrown to the ground. Cheryl never wants to be on the street again.
After beating Cheryl--her drug "buddy" broke all the windows in Cheryl's car and they towed the car away--without a car Cheryl was truly homeless and it was too cold for her to stay on the streets--she came home.
Cheryl still wants drugs, but says she knows that living on the streets is the life of a "druggie" and does not want the life--she will have a long road ahead of her--but for now she is one step safer--Thank You Jesus.

Thank you Saint Monica and Augustine (two of my favorite Saints). And thank Matt Talbot--Cheryl starts drug rehab this week--twice a week out-patient--
Tara: All things work together for good for those that love the Lord, even a butt whooping it would appear.
I started a prayer blog inspired by you and Cheryl. I want to build kind of a cyber prayer chain for Catholics.
Tara:
I am so happy for you and glad Cheryl is getting her feet on the right road. A perfect Easter blessing! Just wonderful.
You know we will continue to pray at class. And I will share the results with the group tonight.(No names of course). You and Jim are important to me in many ways, especially the relationship you had with Dad. Keep me in your prayers please too. As I know you do. God Bless. Rob
Deo gratias!!!!!
It will no doubt be a very long and rough road for her, for her husband, and for you and Jim; but thanks be to God that she is home and safe!
I honestly can't even remember if I prayed to any saints for Cheryl - I just remember praying over and over to Jesus, both in front of the tabernacle and in front of my Divine Mercy picture. I probably did pray to some saints too, so "THANK YOU!" to any of them, but most of all, "THANK YOU, JESUS!!!"
Rest assured that prayers will continue.
Thank God! I'm so happy for you, and she will continue to be in my prayers as well.
I am so glad she is home. Prayers continuing.
Tara,
We have a son who a number of years ago went a similar route as Cheryl. He disappeared from the face of the earth while running from people to whom he owed drug money. He ran so fast that he left with only the clothes on his back, abandonning his few possessions in his rat-hole of an apartment.
Like you, we feared for his safety - not knowing if he was dead or alive.
He finally resurfaced in a larger city about 90 miles away - on the streets, homeless.
In the cold of winter he sought shelters when sober and a bed was available.
Prayer, and the help of a Salvation Army Rehab homeless shelter in that city eventually brought him out of that tomb.
Today he's college degreed, married, father of a 3 yr old daughter, and has a job he loves - and goes to church again.
We were praying for, and will continue to pray for, Cheryl.
Hope is lives!
